01. Why are Dental X-Ray necessary?
Dental x-rays are a great diagnostic tool that can help your dentist see any damage or disease that isn’t visible to the naked eye.
02. What kind of X-Ray should I take?
Your dentist will prescribe what kind of x-ray you should take, depending to your problem and oral condition.
03. What kind of Dental X-Rays are there ?
We can categorize the Dental x-rays in 2 main categories, intra-oral and extra-oral. In the first group a film or digital sensor is used inside the mouth to take an eam of 1 tooth or a small group of teeth. In the second group the sensor or the film (In our center we use only digital sensor) is placed outside the mouth, which allows us to see a wider area and detect dental problems in the jaw and skull. There are several types of extra-oral xrays : -Panoramic x-ray (ketu link per ta lidhur ) -Cephalometric x-ray -3D Scanner
04. What’s the difference between a Panoramix X-Ray and 3D Scanner?
A 3D scanner offers a complete 3 dimensional image of your teeth and structures around. A panoramic x-ray is a 2d image. In our x-ray center you will find the only machine in Albania able to provide a full image of the mouth and the TMJ.
05. How often should I take an X-Ray?
For a normal healthy adult the ADA (American Dental Association) recommends getting a complete Dental x-ray every 12 months. This depends on the status of your overall Oral Health status. Your dentist may prescribe additional exams.
06. I have an old X-Ray
If your x-ray is up to 1 year old, generally you don't have to take another one. Always keep your old x-ray for comparison purposes. It is in your best Health interest to retain and present these x-rays.
07. I’m worried about radiation exposure. Are X-Rays safe?
Yes, Dental x-rays is the safest it has ever been, they are already low in radiation. Digital x-ray Technology lowers the radiatian level even further. In our x-ray center you will find the latest and most Advanced German Technology, Sirona Axeos, providing the most qualitative and low dosagge x-ray machine.
08. How can you protect yourself from Dental X-Ray?
In our center protective lead aprons and thyroid collars are used to minimize the exposure from unnecessary radiation exposure.But, more than 50 years of research has shown that levels of radiation used in modern x-ray machines are so low that the risk of harm is very small or even zero. Today’s machines emit jsut 10% of the radiation that older Technology did.
09. Is Dental X-Ray safe during pregnancy ?
The amount of radiation used a Dental x-ray is very low and according to both the American Dental Association and the American Pregnancy Association, is not enough to cause any harm to a pregnant woman or her baby.You will have to be exposed to a lot of radiation during pregnancy in order for it to harm a developing baby. The amount of radiation that one is exposed to during a standard dental x-ray is .02mSV radiation. You will have to be exposed to at least 2,500 times that amount in order for you or your baby to be harmed by it. It is also importnant to note that the small amount of radiation that you are exposed to will only be in your mouth. The baby will not be exposed to it. You will need to let your dentist know if you are pregnant. Everyone should wear a lead apron during an x-ray. In general, it is safe for you to get a Dental x-ray at any Point during your pregnancy. However, if you need Dental work done, then it is best for you to get the work done during the second trimester.
10. Are digital Dental X-Ray better than film?
Yes, digital Dental x-ray emit only 10% of the radiation that film used.
